 J. P. Gleaton Scholarship

The J. P. Gleaton Scholarship was established in memory of and to honor the third generation family business leader and founder of Plant Telephone Company, J. P. “Jimmy” Gleaton.

For more than 100 years, the company known today as Plant Telecommunications has been managed and operated by the Gleaton descendants, spanning six generations.  Today the Sterling-Metzger family jointly owns Plant Telecommunications; however, the company is managed primarily by the Sterling family. Beverly Gleaton Sterling is a fourth generation family owner and vice president of the company.

The J. P. Gleaton Scholarship is awarded first to an employee or to an employee’s child of Plant Telecommunications who will attend Abraham Baldwin College.
